Bobby Barnhisel '09 Qualifies for the NCAA Division I National Wrestling Championships

Former Fenwick IHSA State Champion, Bobby Barnhisel '09 has qualified for the NCAA Division I National Wrestling Championships. Bobby is representing the Naval Academy and will wrestle his first match on Thursday March 16th in St. Louis, Missouri.
Don Weber '45 and Wife, Mercedes Celebrate 60th Wedding Anniversary

Don Weber '45, and his wife, Mercedes (nee Quinn) a 1947 graduate of Trinity, celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on February 2nd, 2012. The couple, who lives in Darien, IL, have six children, seventeen grandchildren, and on great-grandchild. Don is a 1949 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, with a degree in Journalism. He had a 42-year career with Nalco Chemical Company, serving in various capacities. Among them, Don was the Manager of Public Relations and Advertising and Director of Corporate Communications.
On February 23rd, the Chicago Tribune profiled a second former Fenwick girl's basketball players, Hannah Ballard. A freshman center for the University of Chicago, Hannah is averaging 6.6 points and 4 rebounds in 12.7 minutes a game. Her team has achieved a 42-game regular-season winning streak, which is the longest current streak in Division III. On February 10th, the Chicago Tribune profiled Duke girls basketball player, Tricia Liston. As a sophomore, Tricia is having a successful college basketball career averaging 11.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game and shooting 43.8-percent from behind the arc. Dr. Timothy Walsh ('71) Elected to American Academy of Periodontology Board of Trustees

Dr. Timothy P. Walsh ('71) was recently elected to the American Academy of Periodontology Board of Trustees. The American Academy of Periodontology has over 8,000 members. Dr. Walsh represents District 4 which encompasses eleven Midwestern states and two Canadian provinces.
Dr. Walsh has practiced Periodontics since 1981 and opened his practice in Berwyn that same year. Dr. Walsh graduated from Fenwick High School in 1971. After high school, he attended St. Mary’s College in Winona, Minnesota and graduated with honors in 1975. Dr. Walsh received his dental degree at Loyola University in 1979. He completed a two-year advanced specialty program in Periodontics in 1981 at the University of Illinois. Dr. Walsh currently has offices in Westmont and Berwyn, IL.
Dr. Walsh was President of the Illinois Society of Periodontists in 1992. In 2004, he was elected President of the Midwest Society of Periodontists. The Midwest Society is the professional organization of periodontists in ten midwestern states. Dr. Walsh was elected a fellow of the International College of Oral Implantology in 1995. He limits his practice to Periodontics and dental implants.
Dr. Walsh lives in Hinsdale with his wife, Cathy. Their four children, Sarah, Patrick, Casey and Catherine, have all graduated from Fenwick.
Twin Brothers Jan and Jen Concepcion ('11) Profiled in the WGA Evans Scholar Magazine

Jan and Jen Concepcion were two of the 38 students from the Chicago area that were awarded the Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship for the 2011-2012 school year. Evans Scholars are golf caddies who are selected based on four criteria: a strong caddie record, excellent academics, financial need and outstanding character. The Evans Scholarship is valued at an estimated $70,000 over four years. Jan and Jen are currently pursuing architecture degrees at the University of Illinois and their story was featured in the Evans Scholar Magazine.
Devereaux Peters '07 and Kelly Ryan '10 Named Big East Athlete of the Week for Basketball and Swimming!

On Monday, January 23rd, University of Notre Dame senior Devereaux Peters '07 has been selected as the BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week. It's the first time in Peters' career she has been chosen for any weekly BIG EAST individual award, although she was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll three times last season. Against Pittsburgh, Peters scored a season-high 20 points (on 9-of-13 shooting) in just 18 minutes. She then came back four days later against Villanova with 19 points and six rebounds, scoring 17 of her points in the first half when she singlehandedly outscored the entire Wildcats' team, 17-16. In the same week, University of Notre Dame sophomore Kelly Ryan '10 earned her first career BIG EAST Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week award. Kelly won four events last Saturday in a dual meet against Michigan State. She earned individual victories in the 100 and 200 backstrokes (56.08, 2:02.60) and the 50 freestyle (23.65), and also swam the second leg on the winning 400 free relay team (3:28.64) as the Irish rolled through the Spartans, 218-82. Mariah is a current member of the Marquette University Chorus which is made up of more than fifty young men and women. A few months ago, the White House invited the Marquette Chorus to perform at a Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 17th. However, due to space and security limitations, Mariah was one of only thirty members invited to go to the White House. The chorus will perform a three-hour set from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday morning for the people touring the White House during the holidays. Congratulations Mariah!
Elizabeth Boyle '06 Selected Athlete of the Month for Chicago Athlete Magazine for August 2011

Congratulations to Elizabeth on being selected Athlete of the Month for Chicago Athlete Magazine for August 2011. They are allowing the public to vote for the Athlete of the Year from among the monthly winners. Please vote for Elizabeth.
Elizabeth was All Big Ten and All NCAA Regional for the University of Illinois and ran in the NCAA cross country championships twice. She also advanced to the NCAA track national championships twice. At Illinois, she broke the all-time 10,000 meter record. Since then, she has competed in various road races and half marathons around Chicago and the Midwest. Elizabeth was recently signed by Brooks and is being sonsored by them to train in Michigan.
