Daily Bulletin February 22, 2012 Turnabout Turnabout bids will be on sale outside the library starting Friday. Sunglasses for bid buyers will be available on a first come first serve basis. On Friday and Monday, the bid will be discounted to $30 for a couple and $15 for a single. On Tuesday and Wednesday bids will cost $35 for a couple and $17.50 for a single. You must have a permission form for both you and your date to purchase a bid. If your date attends another school, he or she must have the form signed by an administrator at his or her school. Seniors Information is available in Student Services on approximately 20 scholarships for those of Italian descent. Deadlines and requirements vary. Winter Concert Come enjoy the sound of the Fenwick Instrumental Music Department at their Winter Concert this Thursday, February 23rd. The concert will feature Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Percussion groups, and the Jazz Band. The concert begins at 7:30pm in the Fenwick Auditorium. Quetico Registration for this summer’s Quetico trip begins this week. Return registration cards and deposits to Mr. Draski. If you still need registration information, see Mr. Draski. Join us for this year’s adventure. Any parents who want information on this year’s Quetico trip for their son or daughter may come to a Quetico information meeting today at 7pm in Room 16. AP Tests For those students in AP classes, who will be taking the Advanced Placement tests in May, please remember that the forms and fee are due on February 29th. Juniors African American, Latino juniors with a 3.00 G.P.A. or higher – a FREE Summer Program at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business is being offered this summer. Interested? See Mr. Egan. Loyola University Hospital - Junior Volunteer Summer Program 2012 Loyola University Hospital is once again offering a summer volunteer program for current sophomores interested in learning more about the field of healthcare. The application deadline is Friday, March 2nd. Stop by Campus Ministry for more information. Debate 12 members of the Fenwick debate team competed at the Harvard Invitational tournament last weekend in Cambridge, Massachusetts. A brand new leadership award in Congressional debate was won by junior Jack Miller. Four of the eight Friars entered in Congressional debate advanced from the preliminary rounds to the semifinals: juniors Angela Ribaudo, Jack Miller, and Cairo Lewis, and senior Trey Cobb. Cobb became the first Fenwick debater ever to reach the final round of the Harvard National Congress. The smallest school in the Congress competition, Fenwick finished the weekend eighth overall. As of now, the following members of the Fenwick debate team have qualified for the national Tournament of Champions in Louisville in May: Angela Ribaudo, Jack Miller, and Trey Cobb. Congratulations to the team for a wonderful showing. Volleyball To any boys planning on trying out for volleyball in the spring: If you have not seen Coach Whitman for information about tryouts and concussion testing, please do so by the end of the week. The concussion test will be next Tuesday, the 28th after 10th and 11th periods. There will also be one final open gym this Thursday (tomorrow) at 7am in the New Gym. See Coach Whitman with any questions. Freshman and Junior Softball Players – Concussion Testing If you have not had a concussion test this year with a fall or winter sport, you must attend mandatory concussion testing today in the computer lab from 2:30pm – 3:45pm. If you have 11th period, go immediately to the computer lab after your class. Make sure you bring your Student ID. Question, see Coach Butler. Tennis There will be an informational meeting for freshman and sophomore boys who intend to try out for the frosh/soph tennis team this Friday at 2:30pm and 3:15pm in Room 59. Mothers' Club Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show Raffle Please support the Fenwick Mothers' Club Annual Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show, "Sweeten Your Style", Thursday, April 26th at Drury Lane Oakbrook.
